Caraval Meets Les Misérables : Enchantée by Gita Trelease

ghvhgvh.PNGI am delighted to host my last ever blog tour here on this blog, for a book I really enjoyed reading : Enchantée by Gita Trelease! I am partnering up with PanMacmillan to give one lucky winner a copy of this book, so head over to Instagram for a chance to win if you’re UK based(link below)!

Enchantée is a novel I can describe as Caraval meets Les Misérables… Set in the streets of pre-revolution Paris, it’s the story of one girl’s struggle to stay alive, protect her sister as well as understand the power of her own magic.

It felt different to read a fantasy book set in pre-revolution Paris and I loved the atmosphere of this book. I am not generally a fan of the YA genre however the story pulled me in from the start. Gita Trelease is a good storyteller for sure.

I strolled the streets of Paris with Camille, brushed the corridors of Versailles with my skirt. I loved the steam-punk soul of the book, which is really rare in Fantasy novels dominated by fairies. The magic system of the book was simple but perfectly fitting to the story and made sense in many occasions throughout the plot. The end is a bit predictable but the way it’s told is very engaging so I would be interested to read a sequel of this book. Would love to read more of Camille and her new adventures! Thanks so much for Pan Macmillan and Gita Trelease for this fun read.
