5 Reasons Why We Buy More Books #BookBloggerLife

One question I am sick of hearing is : WHY DO YOU KEEP BUYING BOOKS, YOU HAVE XX ONES UNREAD ALREADY.

Yes, I hoard books. And I am proud of it. I’ll now give you some solid reasons to buy books.

1- You need to have PLENTY of options to survive as a book addict

ScandalOptions.gifIf you’re an obsessive reader, you have to have your options. You can’t just pick and read what you have- you need to have new options to feed your current To-BE-READ list, because every book has a certain time that it should be read. In the future. You must be never out of option, alas, not having a variety of books could lead, god forbid, to a reading slump. Which will kill us, those who walk around the earth by reading books. Mentally.

2- You need to fill in the Blanks – with Books.

What are you going to put up as decoration? Rather than shop bought manufactured decoration, no thanks, I prefer my surroundings fresh off the press.

Book spines are colourful, as a heap they look awesome and filling in the blanks with books is one of the best things you can do with your life guys! Try it if you don’t believe me. Not sure if you have ever played The Sims but I can guarantee, as if you’re a sim, your happiness level will go up after surrounding yourself with books. (It works 100%)

3- Buying books is THERAPY

When I buy books, I feel the happy days and moments they will offer me when I will sit down and read them- and relax. I am not crazy, It’s mindfulness!

It gives me hope for upcoming times. When I buy books I know I will read and enjoy them. It excites me of even thinking about it 🙂

4- A Personal library isn’t built without thousands of books

One of my ambitions in life is to have my own personal library, I am not so far away from it, as I have quite a large number of books.DMbk

However I lack the space!!! My current 3-bed semi has no room for my library, lounge and guest room taking up most of the stock. But I have books in EVERY room except bathroom. Even kitchen, and the entrance.

So you need to keep buying books as you know, a library should have at least a few thousand.

5- One more books means one more adventure

Every book is another life, another adventure, things you dream and you didn’t dare to dream. Short or long, it doesn’t matter, it will take you a place you’ve never been before. If you had a chance to bulk-buy the trips/holidays you wanted to go, would you wait? Of course you wouldn’t . My library is full of  journeys I’ve yet to make!

So you know, these are my reasons to buy more books, and when it comes to books I know I can be a little dramatic, but please…

What are your reasons to buy more books?

  1. So many reasons that I didn’t even know I relate to until today! I would say that when I buy books I also feel the happiest, when compared to buying other entertainment like makeup, clothes, etc. And the excitement for the book that you feel when you first buy it is just amazing ❤

  2. Haha I hear you about being surrounded by so many books! I’m trying to get into the habit of thinning out my collection by getting rid of books I know I won’t read again, but it’s very hard!

    • I am so happy Kaleena, that you liked this post! Definitely tell people you are building a library, how dare they question the number if books we have?

  3. Well, isn’t that true!
I literally get high on buying books. I get very excited, and happy whenever i pick a new one to add to my collection 😀
And of course we need options! It’s like buying a mixed pack of yogurt… who wants to be stuck with only strawberry? Like, what i feel like peach or mango today??

    • Omg Norrie, that is so well put about options. Exactly, you need to have the mango, forest fruit, lemon, strawberry, rhubabr, and good thing-books don’t have use by dates 🤗

  6. Gotta agree that buying books feels like a therapy especially when you found a very, very new-to-you book that sounds fantastic or something you’ve been hoping to grab for quite a while. also, yesss, we need more reading options for all the reading moods we have. And generally, I like looking at my shelf and at all the books around my room 😀

  7. For me, buying books is like a treasure hunt! So nothing beats the feeling of scoring a really great deal on something you really love. I rarely buy books new, I frequent a whole bunch of secondhand bookstores and charity shops (luckily there’s plenty of both in my area), and there’s a real sense of accomplishment that comes with finding something I’ve been searching for buried in the stacks. ❤
