Nothing is as it seems : The Wife Between Us

Posted by

images (1)The Wife Between Us is a tense thriller that has a few shocking reveals for the reader, although I have guessed most of it I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it and especially in the last quarter of the book I was on the edge of my seat as the atmosphere was so tense between the characters.
The story is told between Vanessa and Nellie. Vanessa’s husband Richard just left her and she’s trying to put the pieces of her shattered life together. She is depressed, on the verge of being an alcoholic, staying with her aunt and trying to not to get fired from her new job. Nellie on the other hand, just fell in love with Richard and preparing to get married. Two woman is linked by Richard- but is everything as it seems? Why did Richard leave Vanessa? Is he really who it seems? Is Vanessa really who she seems? Is she the nightmare ex-wife or a woman who has been betrayed? As we read more about them we’ll discover the answers and there are a few shockers!

I can’t say more, as I don’t want to reveal too much and spoil it for you. I read this book nearly in one sitting as it was really unputdownable. There were things I didn’t like in the plot, but I think altogether it was structured very cleverly.

If you like this book I would recommend : The Silent Wife by A. S. A. Harison.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

  1. Lovely review! It really left me on the verge a bit and now I’m feeling like I should get to this. I like mystery so much, but I rarely reach for it (I usually need to be in the right mood), unless it’s Gillian Flynn, because then I’ll leave everything and read her books.

    1. Thanks! I agree about Flynn- she has a gift of writing gripping books. I love reading marriage suspense/mystery books. The tension between the couples could be the worst! As Flynn proved in Gone Girl 🙂
